Additional Car Defects That Can Lead to Injury or Death

Throughout this website you’ll find several safety defects that can result in permanent injuries or wrongful death. However, these defects are just a sampling of the problems that can cause you to unnecessarily suffer significant injuries.

For example, some seats are designed in a way that they collapse backwards in even moderate rear impacts, allowing you to “ramp up” the seat back and hit the interior or eject out of a rear window or hatchback. Appropriate design of the seat or seat belt can eliminate many of these dangers.

Other known issues include defects in the ignition switch on numerous vehicles that can cause fires, even after the car is parked. Still other defects stem from manufacturers’ cost-savings measures which can cause a supplier to ship parts that are not fully tested and are later discovered to have flaws.

Defect issues have been reported in all types of vehicles, including Acura, BMW, Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Chrysler, Dodge, Ford, General Motors (GM), GMC, Honda, Hyundai, Jaguar, Jeep, Kia, Lincoln, Mazda, Mercedes Benz, Mercury, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Oldsmobile, Plymouth, Pontiac, Porsche, Saturn, Toyota, and Volkswagen (VW).

Although too numerous to list here, many design and manufacturing defects remain hidden until injuries occur during an accident.
